It's time to say goodbye to my old fat
PS3, not because it died or anything, but because I ran out of room with
all my games. Yes, I am aware I can delete save data and games I don't
play, but I don't want to have to keep doing that. It's just annoying
especially since a lot of my games are online multiplayer. I'll make a
list of all of my games in a later post.
Anyway, I have to say goodbye to my old fat Hello Kitty PS3...
And Hello to a slim model. I had to
cover up that horrid Spiderman 3 font Sony used on the original
Playstations. Now the question is: Do I re-do HK or do I go with a new
design? I'm leaning more towards something new. I will post how to do
this once I get my new PS3.
Anyway, I beat most of the games I
wanted to so I decided to just upload save files to my "cloud" or
whatever PSN calls it. I found it to be cheaper than purchasing a USB hard drive. In case some of you want to do it using a USB flash drive
and aren't sure how here's how:
"If you're reading this while you're on your ps3 follow these instructions:
- 1. Go to Settings column and plug in the USB device
- 2. System Settings
- 3. Back up Utility
- 4. You can choose back up on your old PS3 to back up your files onto the USB device you connected
I quoted this because I actually asked a friend how he did his and this is per his instructions. Now again, I haven't tried it, but he's done it before so I'm 100% sure it works.
- 5. Do 1-3 again on your new PS3 then press restore once you connected the USB device again
What this does is back up everything in your PS3, the accounts, the users, the saves you didn't delete, the game data you didn't delete, most of your settings and I think even your messages too lolol.
As long as there's enough space for everything you want to back up, you can always redownload any PSN games and DLC you bought from the PSN Store on your account."
With that out of the way since
Playstation only allows you to have 2 PS3's tied to one account after
you've done everything else there's one last step. You have to delete
that PS3 tied to your account unless this is only your 2nd PS3, then
disregard this next step. Also if you're wondering, "Why do I need to do
this?" Well, it's because if you have more than 2 PS3's tied to one
account you can get banned permanently and let's face it, you don't want
to call Sony and prove you're you. It's a pain in the ass. Anyway,
here's how:
"1. Log into Sony's Qriocity page with your PSN details at http://account.qriocity.com/
2. Once logged in, click the "Account" tab to the right of Devices and Media. (it's to the left of your email and Sign Out)
3. After clicking the "Account" tab, click "Media and Devices" on the left pane. It's the second one from the bottom.
4. After clicking "Media and Devices," click on the box that says "Game" and select "Deactivate all.""
Now you can only do this every 6 months so don't go nuts trying to this, lol. You should be all set to enjoy your new PS3.
I'm no expert at all this stuff nor do I
pretend to be, I just ask questions and get answers then share my
knowledge to everyone else. With that said if you have any questions,
let me know, I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.
